Visitors Compliance Statement

Limpsfield Grange School have a duty of care for the wellbeing and welfare of our students.

Limpsfield Grange needs to be assured that people who visit the school in their professional capacity or who work in the school providing a professional service, but who are not directly employed by the school, have undergone the same level of safeguarding checks as our staff, volunteers and governors, before they are given unsupervised access to the school buildings, students and staff.

We therefore request that visitors show their Enhanced with Children’s Barred List check DBS certificate and photographic ID to the school on their first visit, before they are permitted to have unsupervised access to the school. The school will review the certificate and ID and return immediately to the visitor. The school do not make a copy of this information or keep a record of it. This check ensures that the school is able to review details of convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings on the certificate and Children’s Barred List information and make an informed decision about whether the visitor is permitted to have unsupervised access to the school.

We only accept letters of assurance from other organisations where these letters confirm that the following checks have been conducted and cleared for the individual:

  • An identity check
  • Enhanced with Children’s Barred List check DBS
  • A check of professional qualifications (where appropriate)
  • A check to establish the person’s right to work in the UK
  • 2 previous employer/character references

The letter also needs to state that the categories of Police Records of Convictions, Cautions, Reprimands and Final Warnings and DBS Children Barred List Information both present as “none recorded”. A template letter can be obtained from the school.

Where a visitor does not have, or is unwilling to show, their Enhanced with Children’s Barred List checks DBS to the school or provide a letter of assurance, they will need to be supervised throughout their visit by a member of school staff. This is likely to impact on the availability we have to facilitate the visit and may mean that the visit cannot be facilitated at all.
