Year 11

Sent out 21st April 2020:

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all well.

I am aware that many of you have not yet had confirmation of your daughter’s Post 16 placement and are therefore continuing to work hard with your Local Authority to secure this.

I would be very grateful if you could let me know by email by the end of this week, where you are at with this process. If you have had confirmation of your daughter’s place, then please let me know where this is and the course that she will be accessing. If you are still in dialogue with your LA, then please let me know where you are at.

I know I have had had recent communication with the parents of the following students, so unless anything has changed in recent days, you do not need to send me an update at this stage – Zoe, Phoebe, Lauren, Sophia and Dyanne.

Many thanks, Emma

Dear Parents and Carers

Following recent advice from the Government about staying at home and using remote learning, more people are online than every before and that now includes school children. Here are some top tips that you can follow in order to make sure your daughter is safe:

  • Talk about fake news. Discuss how to tell whether the information your daughter is reading is reliable or not. Also talk about the dangers of sharing news which may not be true.
  • Consider how much screen time your daughter has. It is important to have down time and engage in physical exercise.
  • Check in with your daughter when she is online to see which websites she is visiting or who she is talking to on social media.
  • Ensure your daughter only uses her school email account for communicating with teachers.
  • Read the attached leaflet for more tips.

Useful websites:
There are also some great activities online, which will provide fun ways of breaking up the day:

Dear Parents and Carers

GCSE Art – Weekend workshops

I am running three informal weekend workshops to support Year 11 students with their GCSE Art coursework and exam preparation. These will take place in the Art Department on the following dates:

Sunday 1st March 9.30am – 12pm
Saturday 14th March  9.30am – 12pm
Sunday 22nd March 9.30 – 12pm

The workshops will provide students with some extra time to refine and complete their work. Students are welcome to attend for part of a session, if that is more convenient.

Please let me know by Monday 24th February, if your daughter would like to attend.

Yours sincerely,
Colette Grant

Dear Parents and Carers

Live streaming has become a popular feature of many apps and platforms. All you need to be able to live stream is an internet-enabled device, like a smart phone or tablet, and you can communicate with people all over the world in real time. Great if you have family living overseas, but how comfortable are you with your daughter using it to chat to friends……real or online?

If you would like to learn more about live streaming click on the following link or look at the Think U Know website.

Sent out 6th November 2019:

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is that time of the year again where the girls get to bake fabulous Christmas cakes that will be sold at our Christmas Fair.

Many of the girls have showed an interest in purchasing their own cake instead of it being sold at the Fair, so we’ve decided to give the girls an opportunity to do this. This year our Christmas cakes are 6 inches, they will be iced with fondant icing and decorated with a Christmas theme.  They will be on a cake board and covered with cellophane and a nice ribbon bow.   This cake is delicious and just gets better with time. It makes a lovely gift for a grandparent or neighbour or simply just eat it yourself. If you would like to purchase your daughter’s Christmas cake, rather than it being sold at the Fair, please do so via ParentPay by Monday 2nd December. The cost of the cake is £8 which covers the cost of the materials used for the cake, decoration and presentation.

We would be very grateful for your support.

Yours sincerely,
Bronwyn Read
Catering Instructor
